We have a Yoto player and my daughter absolutely loves it. We have a LOT of Yoto cards. The problem is that the audio from the cards streams from Yoto’s servers, and if Yoto ever goes out of business, we will lose access to all of the audio. I wanted to archive the cards so that we could still listen to them even if Yoto is no longer around.
The Github project I’m utilizing to archive the cards is ldesgrange/toto-backup.
Usage
- Read your Yoto card and copy the associated URL. The URL should look like https://yoto.io/XXXXX?ABCDEFGHIJKL=MNOPQRSTUVWXY).
- You can get the associated URL using the NFC Tools Android app.
- Download the latest toto-backup.pyz version from https://github.com/ldesgrange/toto-backup/releases.
- In a terminal, execute the python command with the path to the toto-backup.pyz file and the URL you copied from your Yoto card.:
python /path/to/toto-backup.pyz URLReplace URL with the URL present on your Yoto card. That will create a folder with the tracks, icons and cover art in it. I tested this on Ladybird Audio Adventures The Human Body.
Use AudioBookConverter to combine the tracks into a single audiobook file.
